Frank Ames Lawrence (1947 - 2013):
As previously reported , Frank Ames Lawrence passed away in Denver on Wednesday.  He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1947 from Rice where he was a two-year football letterman (1943-44) as a quarterback.  His graveside service will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery off 1-10 & Eldridge at 10 am on Tuesday, May 28.

Bailiff Honored for Service by GHFCA (Rice Owls)

Bernarr Pravel (1924 - 2013):
On April 28, Bernarr Pravel passed away at the age of 96.  A native Michigander, he graduated from Rice in 1947 (BS, Chemical Engineering) where he played football for Coach Neely as a blocking back.  His education at Rice was interrupted by WWII service.  After earning a law degree from George Washington University, he enjoyed a legal career with several firms.  Also, he was active in his church and service organizations.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
