Johns Hopkins lacrosse has made 41 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, representing the longest active streak for qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in any Division I men's team sport.  Runner-up is Miami baseball with 40 consecutive appearances.

Former Rice pitcher John Pope coaches Cy-Ranch who faces Clements in the UIL 5A Region 3 semifinals this week.  Rice signee Leon Byrd plays for Cy-Ranch.

Last week, Clements defeated Dulles in the quarterfinals to advance to face Cy-Ranch .  Interestingly, Dulles is coached by another former Rice player, Clinton Welch.
