Michelle Moriarty:
Yesterday, Michelle Moriarty and her partner Diane Copenhagen, seeded #16, lost to Angie Akers and Brittany Hochevar in the contender's bracket and tied for 7th place in the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament in Fort Lauderdale.  Brittany’s brother Luke is a starting pitcher for the Kansas City Royals.

Yesterday, #2 Nicole Gibbs and Mallory Burdette of Stanford defeated Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath, 6-2, 6-2, in the Round of 16 of the NCAA W Tennis Doubles Championship.  Click here for the Rice release.

Rice W Tennis:
Yesterday, Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath defeated Antonia Foehse and Mary Anne MacFarlane of Alabama, 6-1, 6-4, in the first round of the NCAA W Tennis Doubles Championship.  This is the Owls’ first ever win in NCAA Women’s Doubles competition.  Next up, Beazant and Harmath face #2 Nicole Gibbs and Mallory Burdette of Stanford at 2:30 pm CT today in the Round of 16.

Earlier yesterday, UCLA freshman Robin Anderson defeated Beazant, 6-4, 6-4, in the second round of the NCAA W Tennis Singles Championship.

Rice W Tennis:
Yesterday, Rice freshman Natalie Beazant defeated Stanford junior Stacey Tan, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round of the NCAA W Tennis Singles Championship.  This is the Owls’ first win in NCAA Women’s Singles competition in 26 years.

ext up, Beazant faces UCLA Bruin Robin Anderson at 10:30 am CT today in the second round.  At 2 pm, she returns to the court with Dominique Harmath to compete in the first round of the NCAA W Tennis Doubles Championship.
