Don Fizer (1942 - 2011):
On April 23, Don Fizer passed away.  A native Texan, he graduated from Rice in 1964 where he was a member of the golf team.  After UT law school, he practiced estate planning and probate law for 40 years.  He had many outside interests like hiking, marathon running, wine and bridge and he was an avid Rice football and baseball fan.  He was active in his church and in volunteer organizations.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

2011 Star of Design Awards:
As previously reported, Guy Jackson ’71, a principal of Jackson & Ryan Architects, is the Decorative Center Houston 2011 “Star of Design” winner for Lifetime Achievement.  Also, Natalye Appel ‘80/’82, a principal of Natalye Appel + Associates Architects, is the “Star of Design” winner in the Architecture category.  The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday.

Dr Robert Warren Gamble:
On April 17, Dr Robert Warren Gamble passed away at the age of 95.  A native of Louisiana, he attended Rice (Class of 1936) and graduated from UT Dental Branch in 1940.  He practiced dentistry in Georgetown for over 50 years and was very involved in the community as well.  Click here for the Austin American-Statesman obituary.

Kingsland Arnold:
On April 17, Kingsland Arnold passed away at the age of 96.  He graduated from Rice in 1936 and worked in geophysics for major oil companies for 50 years.  He was also active in the Boy Scout movement.  Click here for the Lynchburg VA News & Advance obituary.
