and Emily Niemann won NCAA Division I championships within 2 years of each other, Jeff with the 2003 Rice Owls baseball team and Emily with the 2005 Baylor Bears W basketball team.  Interestingly, their parents are both UT graduates.

Howard Hughes
briefly attended Rice as a member of the class of 1927 but left circa 1924 after his father died.  In 1927, the twenty-two year old Hughes produced "Two Arabian Knights" which won its director Lewis Milestone the only Best Direxctor, Comedy Picture Academy Award ever given.

During finals week of 1995, Chris Gouge ’98 and Todd Stadler ’98 launched the T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. Project.  Be sure to check out yesterday’s New York Times story entitled  “Honoring a Spongy Subject of Classroom Experiments.

Presently, Chris works for Microsoft in Redmond WA and Todd for Timber Press in Portland OR.
