Allienne Vale (1918-2010)
On November 21, Allienne Vale passed away at the age of 92.  A native of Rusk, Texas, she graduated from Rice in 1939 and married her classmate Wylie Walker Vale, to whom she would remain married for 71 years.  Beginning in 1950, she was active in business as the founder of Allienne Vale Interiors.  And, in 1960,  she embarked upon a second career as a nationally-renown Bible teacher and counselor.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Ye jin Kang '11:
Rice senior Ye jin Kang is among this year’s 32 American Rhodes Scholars, according to a statement released early this morning by The Rhodes Trust.  She is majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology, as well as in policy studies in global health, and has a minor in biochemistry and cell biology, according to the winner’s bios
