Rice chefs create diverse culinary experience (The Rice Thresher)

Billy Holmes (1926 - 2015):
On October 7, Billy Holmes passed away.  A native Texan, he served in WWII and then earned a MA degree in Chemistry from Rice in 1952.  He worked for Mobil Oil for 40 years where he developed several patents for the company.  Also, he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife.  Click here for the Dallas Morning News obituary.

Betsy Wray (1930 - 2015):
On October 3, Betsy Wray passed away.  A native Houstonian, she graduated from Rice in 1952 where she met her late husband George ’49.  They enjoyed 40 years together.  Also, she was very active in her church.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Don Elsik (1943 - 2015):
On September 28, Don Elsik passed away after a 15 month battle with cancer.  A native Texan, he earned a BA in Economics and a BS in Accounting from Rice in 1966.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and reading history and science (particularly physics).  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

George Dupuis (1928 - 2015):
On October 7, George Dupuis passed away.  A native Texan, he earned a BA (1951) and a BS (1952) in Mechanical Engineering from Rice.  He was employed by Texaco for 32 years in Port Arthur and Convent, LA.  He is survived by, among others, his wife of 60 years, Margaret.  Click here for The Beaumont Enterprise obituary.

Claude Mitchell Jr (1926 - 2015):
On September 23, Claude Mitchell Jr passed away. A native Texan, he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1949 after military service in WWII.  He was employed as a VP of JR Woodruff.  He was predeceased by, among others, his wife of 66 years, Loretta.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
