Donald Teter (1925 - 2012):
On January 26, Donald Teter passed away.  A native of Illinois, he graduated from Rice in 1948.  He worked as a Chemical Engineer in Baytown for many years and was an active member of his community.  Also, he served in the military for 2 years.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Raymond Victor Loftin (1927 - 2012):
On January 25, Raymond Loftin passed away.  A native Houstonian, he graduated from Rice in 1948 and UT Law School in 1951.  After working in the public sector for several years, he joined Transco where he worked until his retirement in 1990.  He was active in the community and at his church.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Clayton Henderson (1922 - 2012):
On January 22, Clayton Henderson passed away. A native Texan, he attended Rice for one year on a track scholarship (class of 1944) and then volunteered for military service. He was an oilfield pumper, farmer and rancher and served as a county commissioner for 12 years. He placed third in horseshoes at the National Senior Olympics in Louisville KY at age 85. Martha Buhler Cooper (1917 - 2012):
On January 22, Martha Buhler Cooper passed away.  A native Texan, she graduated from Rice in 1939 and began a career in teaching.  She was a devoted wife and mother, an active volunteer at a local hospital and she loved shoes  Click here for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram obituary.

William Douglas Pitcher (1958 - 2012):
On January 20, Dr. William Douglas Pitcher passed away at the age of 58.  A native of Indiana, he earned his undergraduate degree from Rice, Summa Cum Laude in 1976 and graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, with Honor, in 1979.  He was Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Section at the VA Medical Center in Dallas and was a professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center.  Also, he was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.  Click here for the Dallas Morning News obituary.

Guy Moody Lyons (1926 - 2012):
On January 20, Guy Moody Lyons passed away at the age of 85.  A native Texan, he received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice in 1949.  After military service, he enjoyed a career in engineering with various companies until his retirement in 2001.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Paul Brochstein (1923 - 2012):
On January 21, Paul Brochstein passed away.  A native Houstonian, he attended Rice (class of 1944) and then enlisted in the Air Corps during WW II.  After military service, he returned to earn degrees from the University of Texas and the University of Houston.  He was an accountant and then became involved in numerous business ventures.  Also, he was an active member of the community.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Jean "Puddin" Clarke:
Last Thursday, Jean “Puddin” Clarke, wife of long-time Rice leader and Trustee Robert Clarke ’63, passed away. A native Texan, she earned degrees from the University of Texas and St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM. She served on the board of the Shepherd School Society and was an avid fan and supporter of Rice and Rice Athletics. Also, she was very active in the community. On Wednesday evening, there will be a celebration of her life.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Richard Brooke (1919 - 2012):
On January 17, Richard Brooke passed away at the age of 92.  He attended Rice (class of 1941) and left to join the army during WW II.   After the war, he worked as an engineer in Mexico and Texas until retirement in 1988.   Since 1968, he lived in Balcones Heights where he was active in his church and in city government.  Click here for the San Antonio Express-News obituary.
