Federal prosecutors described the novel “The Turner Diaries” by white supremacist William L Pierce under the pseudonym of Andrew Macdonald as the blueprint for Timothy McVeigh’s bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995.  Born in Atlanta, Pierce graduated from Rice in 1955 with a BA in Physics.  Read more.

’02 was the first Owl to win of one of college football’s major individual awards when he received the Doak Walker Award in 1991.  Last night, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in New York City.

On Sunday, Chris Boswell threw a 2-yard touchdown pass off a fake field goal for Pittsburgh.  Before Boswell, the last Rice letterman to throw a touchdown pass in the NFL was Donald Hollas for Oakland on December 6, 1998.  Read more.

BYU alums Kyrsten Sinema ’95 and Mitt Romney ’71 recently won seats in the US Senate.  Interestingly, they will be replacing BYU alums Jeff Flake ‘86/’87 and Orin Hatch 58 who did not stand for reelection.  Tonight, BYU basketball hosts the Owls at the Marriott Center in Provo.  (Thanks, Mike Ross!)
