The Thorpe Cup, an international track and field competition between USA and Germany, takes place in Dusseldorf this Saturday and Sunday, July 29-30.  For the second year in a row, Scott Filip is a member of the US roster.

Keith Pierce (Thanks, Russell Henderson!):
Keith Pierce ’02, who was the recipient of the 2003 Emmett Brunson Award honoring the most outstanding Rice men’s track and field senior athlete, is now the Head Cross Country Coach (Girls and Boys) as well as the Head Coach for Girls Track & Field at McKinney Boyd High School (6A) in McKinney.

And, yesterday, Mitch Meissner won the only qualifying spot at the Onion Creek Club in Austin qualifying site for the Texas State Open to be played at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, August 1-4.

Carmona To Participate In 18th Players Amateur (Rice Owls)

Ari Ince (Thanks, Russell Henderson!):
On July 9, Ari Ince won the Women Javelin Throw Collegiate/Open with a lifetime best of 61.38m (201’4”) at the National Scholastic Sports Foundation American JavFest in East Stroudsburg, PA.  She now ranks #23 in the world in the javelin.
