Owls in Summer Ball:
Over the weekend, Jon Duplantier, Evan Rutter and Ford Stainback were named to the California Collegiate League 2014 All-League Team.  Also, Jon was named Pitcher of the Year and Top Pitching Prospect.  Read more.

World Champions:
Yesterday, the West U Little League Seniors, coached by Clint Sauls, Cape Bell and Parker Duffie, defeated Latin America, 7-4, to become the 2014 Senior League World Series Champions.  Joe Gobillot was the winning pitcher and Jimmy Winston went 2-for-4 with a RBI and secured the final 5 outs for the save. 

The World Champions are Mitchell Black, Jared Burch, Harrison Burks, Cameron Cash, Aaron Cranfield, Julian Cranfield, John Doxakis, Turner Gauntt, Joe Gobillot, Andrew Hoffman, Owen Holt, William James, Carson Maxwell, Jacob Millender, Michael Streitman and Jimmy Winston.

Cameron Cash served as a Rice baseball batboy for 6 years.  Owen Holt is the son of Maynard Holt ’89 and Jimmy Winston is the son of Robby Winston (MBA ‘99) and the grandson of Pamela ’69 and Dr. Leeland Winston ’69, a three-year Rice football letterman (1966-67-68).

Owls in Summer Ball:
Yesterday, the Y-D Red Sox defeated the Falmouth Commodores,10-4, to sweep the best-of-3 Cape Cod Baseball League Championship Series.  Kevin McCanna (7-3, 2.54) was the losing pitcher. 

Senior League World Series:
Yesterday, Owen Holt doubled and Jimmy Winston went 3-for-4 to help lead the West U Little League Seniors to a 7-0 semi-final win over Bangor East/West in the Senior League World Series in Bangor. 

Today at 2 pm (ET), the team (“US Southwest”) plays Latin America for the Championship.  The game will be televised on ESPNU.  Also, there will be a viewing party at Little Matt’s (6203 Edloe) hosted by owner Jim Reid at 1 pm (but please get there early).  Finally, click

One of the WU Little League Senior team pitchers is former Rice baseball batboy Cameron Cash.  Also, two of his teammates, outfielder Owen Holt and infielder/pitcher Jimmy Winston, have family ties to Rice.  Owen is the son of Maynard Holt ’89 and Jimmy is the son of Robby Winston (MBA ‘99) and the grandson of Pamela ’69 and Dr. Leeland Winston ’69, a three-year Rice football letterman (1966-67-68).

Yesterday, the Falmouth Commodores, featuring Kevin McCanna, lost to the Y-D Red Sox, 5-0, in game 1 of the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship Series (best-of-3).  Game 2 is today at 4 PM (ET).

Senior League World Series, Bangor:
Yesterday, Latin America defeated the West U Little League Seniors, 4-2, in their fourth pool play game of the Senior League World Series in Bangor.  Today at 11:30 am (ET), the team (“US Southwest”) plays Bangor East/West in a semifinal game.  To follow on GameChanger, click here (free registration recommended).

Due to weather, game 1 of the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship Series (best-of-3) between the Falmouth Commodores, featuring Kevin McCanna, and the Y-D Red Sox was postponed from last night to tonight at 6:30 pm (ET).

Senior League World Series, Bangor:
Today at 8 pm (ET), the West U Little League Seniors play their final pool play game against Latin America at the Senior League World Series in Bangor.  Both teams are 3 and 0 and have clinched a playoff berth.  To follow on GameChanger, click here (free registration recommended).

Beginning today at 6:30 pm (ET), the Falmouth Commodores featuring Kevin McCanna, play in the Cape Cod Baseball League championship series (best-of-3) against the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

Senior League World Series, Bangor:
Yesterday, Owen Holt went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI and Jimmy Winston went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI to help lead the West U Little League Seniors to an 8-inning 11-3 win over Europe-Africa in their third game of the Senior League World Series in Bangor.  After an off day today, the team (“US Southwest”) plays their final pool play game against Latin America at 8 pm (ET) tomorrow.
