Paul Landfair (1933 - 2017):
On January 5, Paul Landfair passed away.  A native of Ohio, he served in the military in the Korean War and then graduated from Miami University Ohio with a BA in Architecture in 1959 and from Rice with a MA in Architecture in 1961.  He practiced architecture for nearly 50 years including over 20 years as a contractor with the US Post Office.  Also, he traveled the world many times.  Click here for the Dayton Daily News obituary.

Elizabeth "Betty" Feehan (1924 - 2016):
On December 28, 2016, Elizabeth “Betty” Feehan passed away.  A native of Louisiana, she graduated from Rice in 1944 with a BA in English.  She is predeceased by, among others, her husband, Lt Col Harvey Feehan (USMC ret’d) (they were married in 1946).  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

David "Shawn" Wilson (1962 - 2017):
On February 18, David "Shawn" Wilson passed away.  Born in New Mexico, he moved to Houston in 1990 and started a golf career before he returned to the oil and gas industry as a fluids control engineer.  He is survived by, among others, his wife of 30 years, Cyndi who is Deputy Secretary to the Rice Board of Trustees and their daughter Barbara who graduated from Rice with a BA in 2013 and with a B.Arch. in 2015.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Moody Center: Grand Opening Celebration, Today:
The grand opening of the Moody Center takes place 7–10 pm, Friday, February 24 and will include exhibition viewing, live music by The Tontons, food trucks and building tours.  The grand opening is open to the public.  Read more

Dr E Michael McGowan (1932 - 2017):
On February 17, Dr E Michael McGowan passed away.  He graduated from Rice in 1954 and Baylor College of Medicine in 1958.  After military service for 12 years, he enjoyed a private practice of Dermatology in Midland MI for 20 years.  He “found great pleasure in his family, cooking and entertaining friends”.  Click here for the Naples Daily News obituary/.

John Nicol (1957 - 2017):
On February 8, John Nicol passed away.  He graduated from Rice with two degrees in Chemical Engineering, a BA (‘79) and a Master’s (’80).  He enjoyed a career in Petroleum Engineering.  Also, he loved to build things, to travel and to grow plants, especially grapes.  He is survived by, among others, his wife Lisa (they were married in 1999).  Click here for the obituary.

On December 24, 2016, Stan Fulfer passed away.  A native Texan, he graduated from Rice in 1955.  After military service, he enjoyed a career in the construction industry.  Also, he was very active in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Association.  He is survived by, among others, his wife Betty.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Isaac Dvoretzky (1928 - 2017):
On February 17, Isaac Dvoretzky passed away.  A native Houstonian, he graduated from Rice Phi Beta Kappa with 3 degrees in Chemistry, a BA (’48), a MA (’50) and a PhD (’52).  He enjoyed a 42-year career with Shell, spanning “research chemist to university liaison and included important patents and publications”.  Also, he loved music, he was active in his congregation and he received the ARA Meritorious Service Award in 2003. 

The funeral will be at 1 pm today at Beth Yeshurun, 4525 Beechnut.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

On December 23, 2016, Charles Ritchie Jr passed away.  A native Houstonian, he attended Rice (class of 1955) and the University of Houston, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.  He enjoyed a career in banking and real estate development in Washington DC.  Also, he was active in the community.  Click here for the Washington Post obituary.
