Shepherd School orchestra to play Carnegie Hall Oct. 28 (Rice News)
Jerome Hafter (1945 - 2016):
On September 23, Jerome “Jerry” Hafter passed away. A lifetime resident of Greenville, MS, he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rice in 1967 where he was a 2-year golf letterman (1963-64). Also, he was Student Association President and Hugh Scott Cameron Award winner as the Outstanding Rice Graduate of the Class of 1967.
He was a Marshall Scholar at Oxford from 1967-68 and a earned a JD from Yale Law in 1972. He enjoyed a legal career from 1974 to 2001 with Lake Tindall and thereafter with Phelps Dunbar. Also, he served in a number of bar related leadership positions and he was active in the community. He is survived by, among others, his wife Jocille.
