Carol Moore (1923 - 2016):
On May 8, Carol Moore passed away.  Born in West Virginia, she graduated from Rice in 1944, summa cum laude, with a double major in English and Psychology.  With her husband Jim, she lived in New York, Arizona and California.  She was very active in the community and in her church.  She is predeceased by, among others, Jim (45 years of marriage).  Click here for The Arizona Republic obituary.

Donald Whittaker (1932 - 2016):
Don Whittaker recently passed away.  A native Texan, he graduated from Rice in 1954 where he was a one-year football letterman (1952).  After military service in Germany, he and his wife Glenda lived in Dallas and Houston.  He retired in 2002.  He is survived by, among others, Glenda (63 years of marriage).  Click here for The Daily Sentinel obituary.

Wyatt Imus '20:
Incoming freshman wins rodeo championship (Rice News)

William Stephenson (1942 - 2016):
On May 9, Dr. William “Bill” Stephenson passed away.  Born in New Orleans, he earned a BA in Biology from Rice in 1964 and a medical degree from UT Southwestern in Dallas.  After military service in Viet Nam, he enjoyed a career as an orthopedic surgeon in Longview.  Also, he was active in his church.  Click here for The Daily Sentinel obituary.

David Hellums (1929 - 2016):
On Sunday, David Hellums, former dean of Engineering and a pioneer in biomedical research, passed away at the age of 86.  Click here for the Rice release. 

Marion Hargrove (1922 - 2016):
On June 24, Marion Hargrove passed away.  A native Houstonian, she graduated from Rice in 1942 where she became the first woman editor of The Thresher.  Also, in 1942, she married Jim Hargrove ’43 and they raised a family in Shreveport, Houston, Washington DC and Australia where he served as US Ambassador from 1975-77.  Also, she was active in the community and in her church.  She will be remembered for “her kindness and generosity as well as her legendary memory”.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Guillermo "Memo" Trevino '83:
On Saturday night, the 41st class including Guillermo “Memo” Trevino ’83 was inducted into the Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame in Laredo.  Also, he was named “Sportsman of the Year”.  Memo is a member of the Rice Board of Trustees.  Read more.
