In 2007, Rice grad Elizabeth Avellan won the first Ann Richards Award at the 7th annual Texas Film Hall of Fame awards gala.  She produced El Mariachi, the Dusk to Dawn series and the Spy Kids series with her ex-husband, Robert Rodriguez.
