Strike Brewing’s new Tap Room in San Jose is now open with limited hours.  The Grand Opening will be October 4.  Former Rice swimmer Jenny Lewis ‘05/’11 co-founded Strike Brewing in the Bay Area in 2012 and serves as CEO.  Read more.

Bob Daubert (1948 - 2014):
On July 19, Robert Daubert passed away.  A native Coloradoan, he graduated from Rice with a BA in Chemical Engineering in 1971.  After formal training in computer science, he developed applications for several firms.  Also, he was very interested in crafts including basket-weaving and woodworking.  Click here for the Mt Airy NC Newspapers obituary.

O-Week begins Sunday (Rice News)

David Eads (1951 - 2014):
On June 29, David Eads passed away.  A native Texan, he received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Rice in 1974.  He enjoyed a career as a Control Systems Engineer and he was active in his church.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Donald Buckner (1924 - 2014):
On July 29, Donald Buckner passed away.  A native Texan, he served in WWII and graduated from Rice (class of 1946) and UT Law in 1949.  He worked for Texaco and finished his career as head of the Legal Department.  He is survived by, among others, Barbara, his wife of 64 years.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
