In 1971, Paul Zindel, who earned a bachelor’s degree in 1958 and a master’s degree in 1962 both in chemistry from Wagner College, won a Pulitzer Prize in Drama for ‘The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the Moon Marigolds’.  Interestingly, the play was first produced at the Alley Theatre in Houston in 1965 and was also produced by the Rice Players in 1975.  Read more.   (Thanks, Mike Ross!)

On Saturday, Rice football hosts the Seahawks in their season opener.

Former Rice soccer player Lauren Shockley ‘05 will be inducted into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame in October. From 2007 to 2011, she was a math teacher with KIPP in the Greater Los Angeles area.  Presently, she is Managing Director of Design for Teach For America.
