Judy Ley Allen, a 2017 Laureates Award honoree, was a cheerleader at Rice.  Judy and 3 other cheerleaders graced the front page of the October 23, 1959 Thresher to STOMP THOSE STEERS!  (Thanks, Mike Ross!)

William Russel ‘69, a 2017 Laureates Award honoree, played second base on a Rice baseball team.  After earning a Stanford PhD in 1973, he has spent his professional career at Princeton since 1974 including serving as dean of the Graduate School from 2002-2014.  Click here to read more and/or to register for the Laureates Awards Dinner on May 13.

University of Houston dropout Matt Mullenweg developed the free and open source web software known as WordPress which reportedly powers almost 30 percent of the entire internet including the Rice History Corner  website.  

On Tuesday, Rice blanked UH, 9-0, in the first game of this year’s Silver Glove Series.  Game 2 is at Reckling Park next Tuesday.
