uncle John represents District 18 in the Texas House of Representatives.  Elected in 2004, he also serves as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.  After Monday night’s game, he tweeted “Wow what a game he pitched.  Nice job nephew”.

Georgia Bulldogs Cortni and Sydni Emanuel, daughters of Rice football letterman Bert Emanuel (1992-93), are playing in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.  Yesterday, Cortni scored the winning run in the seventh inning as Georgia edged Florida State, 5-4, in the opening round.  (Thanks, John Wolda!)

is the most recent Rice female tennis player to earn All-American honors.  Per this Rice Athletics article, the first two ones to do so were Wendy Wood (1985, 1986) and Natalie Beazant (2013, 2015).  Also, Tracy Blumentritt and Susan Rudd earned All-American honors in doubles in 1982.
