Denver head coach Gary Kubiak has participated in six Super Bowls, losing three as a player with Denver and winning three as an assistant coach with Denver and San Francisco.  His son Klein ’13 was a three-year Rice football letterman (2010-11-12).  Also, he is the brother-in-law of former Rice assistant baseball coach David Pierce.  Read more.

The late Gary Reist led the 1970 Southwest Conference championship men’s basketball team in season scoring.  A three-year basketball letterman (1969-70-71) and a four-year golf letterman (1968-69-70-71), he was inducted into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982.  Read more (see page 3).

His 1970 Southwest Conference championship team advanced to the NCAA Basketball Tournament, losing to New Mexico State, 101-77, in the first round on March 7, 1970 in Fort Worth.  (Thanks, Joe Graves!)  The team will be honored during halftime of the Men’s basketball game vs. North Texas this Saturday, January 30.  Read more
