Rice football is undefeated against Alabama.  Besides the January 1, 1954 Cotton Bowl 28-6 win mentioned above, Rice also defeated Alabama 20-0 on September 24, 1955 and 20-13 on September 22, 1956.

The late Ferne and Harold Hyman, parents of Rice trustee emeritus Lee Rosenthal, were employed by Rice.  Ferne was a reference librarian at Rice for 35 years - click here for Melissa Kean’s blog entry when she passed away in 2011. Harold is the William P Hobby Professor Emeritus of History – click here for Melissa Kean’s blog entry when he turned 90 in 2014.

Rice standout guard Greg Williams was the other participant in the Army vs. Rice basketball game at Tudor Fieldhouse on December 21, 1967 who ended up amassing 342 Division I coaching wins with UH (93), Colorado State (108) and Rice (141).  (Thanks, Mike Ross!)
