Mario Götze, the son of Rice DSP alumnus Jürgen Götze, scored the decisive goal for Germany against Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday. From 1995 to 1996, he was a postdoc researcher with the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) group of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Rice.  Read more.

First, a correction.  Five Longhorns (JD Reininger, Brett Loeffler, David Denny, Wendell Hibbett and David Chalk) have hit 3 home runs in a single game but only Reininger did it at Disch-Falk Field, against TCU in 2002.  Chalk did it at Clark Field in 1969 in game 2 against Rice (David Ownby, Scott Wise) and the other three did it in away games.  VOTE RENDON!
