Three-year Rice basketball letterman Joe Durrenberger ’56 (1954-55-56) was the first-ever recipient of the Billy Wohn MVP Award in 1956.  He was inducted into the Rice Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. 

On February 15, 1955, he set the Rice single-game rebounding record with 30 in a win over Baylor.  This Saturday night, he will be honored at halftime of the UAB game on the 60th anniversary of his record.
