Phillip Costa (1920 - 2015):
On June 28, Phillip Costa passed away.  A native Houstonian, he started Rice, left to serve in WWII and returned to graduate in 1947.  At Rice, he was President of his Senior Class and was a three-year baseball letterman (1941-46-47).  He enjoyed a career at Gulf Printing and he was a lifetime Rice Owls supporter.  He is survived by, among others, his wife of 67 years, Patsy ’49 and his son Phillip Jr. ’75 who was a two-year Rice baseball letterman (1974-75).  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

On Thursday night, Willy Amador was the winning pitcher as the Santa Barbara Foresters defeated the Conejo Oaks, 10-4.  Last night, Ryan Chandler went 2-for-4 with a triple, 2 runs and a walk as Santa Barbara defeated Walnut Creek, 13-6.
